Welcome to Blue Pacific's download area. Currently you can download two different file sets: The Labs and Solutions are the Verilog, VHDL and SystemC files referenced in Steve Watkins' book Hardware Design for Software People in the SoC Era: Verilog, VHDL, SystemC and Matlab*. BlueWave is a VCD results viewer for use with Open SystemC and Icarus Verilog. NOTE: While BlueHDL VHDL is a complete VHDL simulation tool suite, it will NOT work with Windows 2000 or XP. It's main value is the BlueWave Waveform Display GUI. For EDA tools, we recommend that you download the Xilinx Webpack* for FPGA design and the Student Version of the Mentor ModelSim* HDL simulator from Xilinx. For low-cost Xilinx FPGA development boards we suggest you check out Digilent. Please read the License Terms before downloading files from Blue Pacific.
Revision HistoryThe BlueHDL Tools for Windows were first made available on the Web in June 1999. The following is a revision history since then. September 1999: Added new features to VHDL compiler. December 1999: Posted first Linux Version of BlueHDL. January 2000: Posted first Unix Version of BlueWave GUI, which included SystemC and foreign Verilog. Added new features to VHDL compiler. June 2000: Added new features to BlueHDL VHDL compiler and to BlueWave GUI. These included more IEEE 1076 features, better color and format editing, name search and labeling. September 2000: Fixed Linux bug that affected Turbo Linux and some Red Hat versions that prevented simulator from completing; symptom was "Make: command not found" error message. Fixed bug in translatemti command. Added new features to BlueWave GUI. These included faster waveform drawing and placing more Tcl variables in the Display Preferences Menu. The main missing IEEE 1076 Features are now records, access types and generate statements. October 2005: Added Hardware Design for Software People in the SoC Era Labs and Solutions. Dropped Linux and Solaris Support.
Click here to download the files if you agree to the following license terms. If you want to compile and simulate SystemC you need to obtain the Open SystemC C++ source files and cycle-based simulation kernel from: www.systemc.org . Our download files are preconfigured for Blue Pacific's VHDL, so you must also change these 3 lines in $BLUEPC/myhome/bwuser after you have installed BlueHDL:
set comptypewav systemc
The BlueWave GUI Waveform Viewer works with all versions of Windows. Tcl/Tk is required for BlueWave and is included in the download. Click here to download our tools for Windows (bhstud.zip, 11 megabytes) if you agree to the following license terms. Read the instructions on installation in the README file once you have downloaded and unzipped the files.
